Housing Choice Voucher Program
The housing choice voucher program is the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. The Authority administers approximately 370 Housing Choice Vouchers that allows families to obtain affordable housing in privately owned homes throughout Calvert County.
Project-Based Voucher Program
The Authority owns, manages, and maintains 72 two- and three-bedroom single-family homes throughout Calvert County that are subsidized through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's project-based voucher program.
Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing
This federal program provides rental assistance vouchers specifically targeted to homeless veterans. Public housing authorities work closely with Veteran Affairs Medical Centers to manage this voucher program. The Authority administers 30 vouchers for the Southern Maryland area that allows eligible veterans to live in privately owned residences in Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary's County.
Other Programs
The Authority also administers the Maryland Special Loan Program to provide low-interest loans for the rehabilitation of housing for qualified homeowner's in Calvert County.
Owned Apartments
Our one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments are available to senior citizens (ages 62 and over) and disabled persons and have income minimum and maximum restrictions.
